Aurora Borealis

"The dream of a fox

One night the fox put her tired gaze upon the stars and whispered:
"I wish I could be one of you!"
In that instant she heard soft footsteps on the snow and a figure appeared beside her.
"Why do you want to become a star?" - the stranger asked.
"Because they light up the dark night. And... they aren't alone."
The stranger looked surprised.
"Why do you think only stars can do that?"
Then he sat down and gently put his hand on her head. When his fingers touched her fur, small lights started their waltz around the fox, leading her to the top of the trees and up over those dark mountains. And as her tail touched the fresh snow, magical sparks rose into the night sky, setting it ablaze with a beautiful display of all colours.
With joy in her heart the fox stopped:
"Kind stranger, please, tell me who I should be grateful to?"
But only a dying echo answered:
"To yourself..."
The little fox said her last goodbye to her home then she ran towards the stars, leaving the mountaintops behind her. Sometimes you may see her trail hovering over the horizon, as one of the most miraculous phenomenons ever witnessed in the sky:
The Aurora Borealis."
